Chapter 12

The Subconscious Mind

Let's start this lesson off with a bold statement: control your subconscious mind, and you can control your world. I guarantee that if you went and asked 100 strangers on the street right now if that statement is true, 95 of them would probably tell you that is false and you are crazy to believe so. Or they could just give you a strange look and walk away. Let me explain why I believe this is so.

There is an old saying that "A picture is worth a 1,000 words." Wow, a 1,000 words? And after reading this chapter and learning more about the subconscious mind, we know that our subconscious mind uses images in order to create our emotions and ideas. In addition, we all know that clarity equals power. So take for example you have a clear image on where you want to be in one, three, or five years from now. You can picture exactly what your business looks like, your health, time freedom, etc. Now, we all know how important our self-talk is and how many times that we say it. So if you can imagine clearly on how your life looks a year from now, then not only will that represent 1,000 words, but it will be like saying your self-talk 1,000 times. Think about that for a minute! Your self-talk can keep you focused on your dreams and goals when things aren't going your way. And once you add in the clear image with your self-talk, then that is like icing on the cake. You will feel energized, confident, and ready to go.

To me, visualization is a key component in anything from sports to owning a business. A team member of mine gave me a photo that is on my desk at work of Michael Jordan and one of his famous quotes, "You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them." And that all starts with visualization. I tell everybody that I meet that the moment I decided that I was going to play professional baseball was when my dad told me that I had a great chance of playing at that level. We were actually just speaking today about how I had the talent to play in the major leagues, not just the minor leagues. But that all started because I made a decision based off of a clear image of me playing professional baseball. I ultimately say that decision and clear image is what shaped my life and for who I am today. And we can all do the same with our network marketing business. When we have a clear dream, goal, and vision of our life, then we can make a decision to go after it and control our world.
