Chapter 2 - Desire
The Subject of this chapter is "Desire" and Hill says in the
subtitle it is the "Starting Point of all Achievement".
In other words, in order to achieve anything we have to have a
desire to do it.
There are some things we want to achieve but we may not really
have a desire to do what we need to do to achieve it. We may want
to have a clean house. We may not desire to do the work but
because we want the achievement it will bring, we are willing to
put in the time to clean our house. Most people go to work to
achieve the goal of having an income. They don't necessarily desire
to go to work but they want the end result of the pay cheque.
Marsha Sinetar has stated "Burning desire to be or do something gives
us staying power - a reason to get up every morning or to pick ourselves
up and start in again after a disappointment."
Having a clean house or going to work to attain a pay cheque may not
be a disappointment but we still needed that "staying power" to get
the job done.
In building a business we must have a desire to achieve success and
along the way we will come across disappointments, or we can look at
them as stepping stones. This is were we need to have that "staying
power" and remember why we began the business in the first place. We
had a desire to achieve a goal that we set for ourselves. Sometimes we
just have to go back and look at our "starting point" and continue
on.
