"Thoughts are things; thoughts are energy; thoughts are magnets which
attract to us the very things which we think.” David V. Bush from “
Applied Psychology and Scientific Living"
What a journey this continues to be as we repeatedly study through “Think
and Grow Rich". Since 2015 this will be my 27th time and every time I read
“thoughts are truly things” as the title of this chapter says, it is like
an alarm or wake call to become a better thinker, look for the tremendous
seed of thoughts, and take action on those thoughts.
For Edwin Barnes it started just as a thought, “I am in a partnership with
Thomas Edison.” It was fueled by a burning desire that would not be quenched
but fanned with persistence, commitment, and a determination of “I will until”.
Hill states, “Barnes literally thought himself into a partnership with the
great Edison! He thought himself into a fortune. He had nothing to start with,
except the capacity to know what he wanted, and the determination to stand by
that desire until he realized it.
This is the same desire, determination, and persistence manifested by the young
colored girl when asking for the 50 cents. She was not returning to her mammy
without those coins no matter how long it took.
How much determination is needed or does it take to turn the thought of being a network
marketer into reality. Someone sees an ad, receives an email, and is told of a
free e-book “Success in 10 Steps” and has the thought “this be the answer to
questions I have had about this business.” Now comes a moment of decision, “Do
I get it, read it, follow it, and start telling about it.” It is just another thought
and choice to make.
Most people choose the path which comes up 3 feet short of the mother lode. They
get on the calls, may post 1 or 2 lessons only to decide this is too hard not fast
enough and started chasing another squirrel or shiny object never finding the magic
bullet. That thought which could have been their gold mind ended up on the heap
with other undeveloped and unlived dreams
I choose to remind myself that success comes to those who become success conscious,
and failure comes to those who allow themselves to become failure conscious. Further-
more, there is no room for both to thrive in the same mind.
“Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams. More
powerful than with all the facts." H. Jack Brown, Jr.
Thanks to everyone in Mentoring for Free for living out your thoughts and sharing
them weekly on these calls.
