Hill tells us that “TRULY, “thoughts are things,” and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a BURNING DESIRE for their translation into riches, or other material objects.” When Barnes had the thought of going to work with Edison he had no idea how he was going to accomplish that. In the past when I would have a great idea my NEGATIVE mind would go to work telling me all the reasons the idea wouldn’t work instead of the reasons why it would. Things like oh I don’t have that kind of money. It would just be too hard, and endless excuses which I now realize was my paradigm that had been been formed since I was a baby. It had been poured into me like a cake mix into a pan or a mold from teachers, family, friends, news media, all sources of stimuli from the outside conscious mind.
Bob Proctor always says, “don’t worry about how, it will always come if you know WHAT YOU WANT. Most people don’t truly know that. If we know where we are and where we want to go we can get there. Hill also tells us about Barnes “ When this DESIRE, or impulse of thought, first flashed into his mind he was in no position to act upon it. Two difficulties stood in his way. He did not know Mr. Edison, and he did not have enough money to pay his railroad fare to Orange, New Jersey. These difficulties were sufficient to have discouraged the majority of men from making any attempt to carry out the desire. But his was no ordinary desire! He was so determined to find a way to carry out his desire that he finally decided to travel by “blind baggage,” rather than be defeated. (To the uninitiated, this means that he went to East Orange on a freight train).”
When we give that thought we have a little attention until we form a mental image and spend most of our time thinking about it mixed with strong emotion (whether that image is good or bad it is going to happen ) I was on a webinar where the coaches were giving tips on how they emotionalize their self talk. One that really resonated with me since I really love music is he said he stands in front of a mirror playing music while doing his autosuggestion and I have been doing it by standing there listening to mine and Amy’s wedding song, “Thank you” by Led Zeppelin.. So powerful as it brings back so many memories, almost to tears. I still see her walking into the room with her son and daughter on each side of her to commit the rest of her life to me. So I have the emotions of music and love. I won’t stop that exercise now.
The last thing that really stuck out to me that Hill said was “when a man really DESIRES a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win. That’s what it really boils down to. Proctor says” when your dream is so big you fuse with it you are sure to win, same thing. He says you have to fall in love with what you want.
