Chapter 1 Introduction: The Man Who “Thought”
His Way Into Partnership With Thomas A. Edison
“When the opportunity came, it appeared in a different form, and from a
different direction than Barnes had expected. That is one of the tricks
of opportunity. It has a sly habit of slipping in by the backdoor, and
often it comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.
Perhaps this is why so many fail to recognize the opportunity.”
“Barnes literally thought himself into a partnership with the great Edison!
He thought himself into a fortune. He had nothing to start with, except the
capacity to know what he wanted, and the determination to stand by
that desire until he realized it.” Napoleon Hill
The path to success in any person’s life is marked by potholes, obstacles,
setbacks, and disappointments. The choice all must make is “Do I quit” or
“Just keep moving!”? Most will throw up their hands, shrug their shoulders,
and stop in their tracks with “Well this won’t work!” There are a few through
-out history who stepped past the three feet to the pot of gold just on the
other side Quit.
“The only time you fail is when you fall down and stay down.” Stephen Richard
Yes, thoughts are things, which can become reality only by putting action into
carrying out those thoughts. Barnes had to get on the train, go before Edison
to make his case for going into business with him, and staying around until
the opportunity reveals itself.
I choose to do the little things, taking the small actions daily, and be here a year from now no matter how long it takes to succeed in network marketing.
I plan to follow the example of definiteness of purpose as manifested by Barnes,
Darby, and young black girl to stay focused on the desires of my thought no
matter what it takes.
“Change your thoughts and you change your world.” Norman Vincent Peale
Thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy for the definiteness of purpose you have
practice before all of us in building and sharing the Mentoring for Free system
and moving it toward for these near 17 years. I count it a privilege and blessings
to be here with everyone who participates in the weekly calls and training for the
gift of wisdom you bring.
