Chapter 9 Persistence: The Sustained Effort
Necessary to Induce Faith

“PERSISTENCE is an essential factor in the procedure of transmuting
desire into its monetary equivalent. The basis of persistence is the
power of will.

“The building of a fortune, generally, involves the application of
the entire thirteen factors of this philosophy. These principles
must be understood, they must be applied with persistence by all
who accumulate money.”

“The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly
in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of
fire makes a small amount of heat. If you find yourself lacking in
persistence, this weakness may be remedied by building a stronger fire
under your desires.” Napoleon Hill

Your first test as to your persistence will come when you begin to follow
the six steps described in the second chapter especially the repeating of
your written statement aloud.

The shouts of praise went out to Thomas Edison for the creation of the electric
lightbulb, but would there have been that blub without Edison persistence
even after 10,000 failures. All of us are affected every day by a computer
or electronic device, but would we have such equipment if it had not been
for the persistence of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Michael Dell in making
computer user-friendly.

I have to ask myself would Conne and I have enjoyed those 51 years without
some persistence. Did we make mistakes, YES! Did setbacks happen, YES! Were
there sometimes of doubts, SURE! Yet, with the persistence of living one day
at a time and making that day count and then another and another we end with
18,746 days of a great life, 2 wonderful men as sons, 9 grandkids, and 2
great-grandsons.

Would we have this mastermind group Mentoring for Free if were not for the
persistence of Linda and Michael Dlouhy? Without Michael’s vision of this
system in 1998, the writing down of those thoughts, visualizing the dream,
making a plan, and taking action we would not be here today.

I remind myself daily, it is not the huge accomplishment that life brings,
but being persistent in making and taking the little steps today will
result in the big dreams coming to fruition.

Thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy, to all my partners here at Mentoring
for Free for your friendships, support, encouragement, and the wisdom given
and shared every week.
