On July 24th, 2013 I posted the following:
"Chapter 3 - Faith
How do you know you have faith? Is it something you just
tell yourself? Is it your self talk? Is it Something you just think about?
How do you really know you have faith?
Hill tells us there is a principle in this book that we may learn
on our first reading which we may even understand the first time
we read Chapter one. Some of us may have to read this book
many times to find that principle. Hill does not really spell it out for us.
Each chapter builds upon the other but I believe there is one
characteristic that is involved in each chapter thoughout the book.
There probably is more but at this point in my study I recognize
this one as being critical. Without this characteristic nothing happens.
So I examined the chapters.
Chapter 1 Thoughts are things. Until we do something
about our thoughts, thoughts are just that – thoughts - and they don’t become things
until we actually put in some action to make them things.
Chapter 2 – Desire. We can desire or want something
but until we put some action into it it is still only a wish.
Chapter 3 – Faith. Show me your faith by your works.
Action is the proof of your faith.
Chapter 4 – Auto-Suggestion or self talk. We can do our self talk
all day long but if we don’t put any action into making our self talk
a reality it will remain just a self talk.
Chapter 5 – Specialized knowledge. We can acquire all the knowledge
in the world but if we do not use that knowledge in some way it will
be only head knowledge. It will not build our business. We must put action into
the knowledge we acquire.
Chapter 6 – Imagination. What a beautiful thing imagination is.
Yet we can sit all day and imagine all kinds of things but without action
behind the imagination it is only wishful thinking.
Chapter 7 – Organized Planning. Sometimes this is used as an excuse
because we can plan all day and have no time left to put the action
into building our business. To be of use our plans need to be executed at some point.
Chapter 8 – Decision. It sounds so good when we say to ourselves,
“I made the decision to build my business.” My questions is:
Did I put any action behind the decision?” A decision by itself
is only a decision. Without action I am still "just sitting on the lily pad.”
Chapter 9 – Persistence. You cannot have persistence without
Action. Persistence without action is quitting.
Chapter 10 – Power of the Mastermind. Powerful – yes. But only
if you participate. Without participation it is like a flashlight with
a battery that is not charged.
Chapter 11 – The Mystery of Sex Transmutation. To transmute is
to change from one thing to another. Change means there is action.
Chapter 12 – The Subconscious mind. – In order to clean out the
garbage in our subconscious mind we have to get rid of the negative
and replace it with the positive and that only happens with action.
Chapter 13 – The Brain. Learning how to use our mind. Learning
Chapter 14 – The Sixth Sense. We all have those intuitions or insights
and we can choose to ignore them or we can take advantage of them.
Action is necessary to make a choice.
Chapter 15, How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear. This is a biggie.
Action is necessary to recognize our fears and then it takes more
action to get rid of the fear.
As I pondered on the lesson plan I submitted last week, I recognized the fact
that every chapter is not just understanding what each chapter
means. It was not just knowing what my desire was,
it was not just recognizing the fact that I needed a self talk, it was
not just understanding what the subconscious mind was or knowing
that thoughts are things but in all that, I knew I had to take responsibility
to do something with everything I understood from each of these chapters.
Taking action or showing my faith is putting my work boots on and taking hold of my tool box
and going to work on every principle in every Chapter of this book.
Taking action is not just a thought in my head, it is the proof of my faith.
Tom Lehman stated "To have faith doesn't mean you get any less frustrated when you don't
do your best, but you know that it's not life and death. Take what you're given,
and when you continue to work hard, you will see results. That will give you
the confidence you need to keep going."
