Chapter 7-Organized Planning: The
Crystallization of Desire into action

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first
sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money
to complete it?

Or what king would go to war against another king without first
sitting down with his counselors to discuss whether his army of
10,000 could defeat the 20,000 soldiers marching against him?”
Luke 14: 28, 31

As I reflected on the verses above, I reasoned if Jesus told his
followers to count the cost or have a plan and be ready to follow
that plan, maybe just maybe I need a definite plan if I want to
have a network marketing business.

As I read about building a tower, I remembered Michael Dlouhy’s
story about building the tower on his property. He had to plan for
how deep the footing had to be to support the tower. The depth of
the footing depended on the plan for the height of the tower and
the width of the base. Plan on top of plans. Whether building a tower
or an army or remodeling a kitchen and dining room. or a network
marketing business it calls for plans on top plans to find the
success I desire.

Why is a plan or plans so important?

Plans help me define the reach of the venture (not only mine but
to my clients as well!)

A plan is important because it labels the key roles of those whom
I will need to make each of the parts or steps of my plan work.

A plan helps me forecast any possible challenges seen and unseen.
Surprises that pop up, but planning for them will help me with a
recovery action plan.

Plans help me accurately detail to predict a path to my goals.

Plans help me with managing my path.

Plans help me define goals, targets, and deadlines.

Plans help me stay focused on schedules and budgets.

Plans help me measure the success of the venture.

Plans help me examine and be countable for what worked and what
didn’t work.

Plans help me develop my next plan.

“Henry Ford accumulated a fortune, not because of his superior mind,
but because he adopted and followed a PLAN which proved to be sound.
A thousand men could be pointed out, each with a better education
than Ford’s, yet each of whom lives in poverty because he does not
possess the RIGHT plan for the accumulation of money.” Napoleon Hill

I must remember that no matter how great my plans maybe on paper there
is no real value in the plan if there is no action behind it.

Hill wrote, “The most intelligent man living cannot succeed in accumulating
money—nor in any other undertaking—without plans which are practical and
workable. Just keep this fact in mind, and remember when your plans fail,
that temporary defeat is not permanent failure. It may only mean that your
plans have not been sound. Build other plans. Start all over again.”

I don’t need to rush when developing my plans, yes think about it. Talk
it over with a mentor or a mastermind group It’s important not to rush
through any stages and do the research. Yet the plan has no validity if
the action is not applied. The formula plan-do-review than repeat must
be faithfully followed.

Thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy for the example you are in setting up a
plan and follow through to completion of those plans in the creation of
this mastermind.  Many thanks to my mastermind partners for the wisdom
you bring to the weekly calls.
