Chapter 9 Persistence
PERSISTENCE: THE SUSTAINED EFFORT NECESSARY TO INDUCE FAITH
The Eighth Step Toward Riches
Napoleon Hill states that, lack of persistence is one of the major causes of failure. His experience with thousands of people has proved that lack of persistence is a weakness common to the majority of men. It is a weakness which may be overcome by effort. The ease with which lack of persistence may be conquered will depend entirely upon the INTENSITY of ONE’S DESIRE.
The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire, makes a small amount of heat. If you find yourself lacking in persistence, this weakness may be remedied by building a stronger fire under your desires.
It’s amazing how many people lack persistence and procrastinate. Lack of persistence and procrastination is the killer of dreams.
It seems that when you put effort into a business, the naysayers will come out of the woodwork! Then when you succeed, they say, “You are so lucky! I knew you could do it!”
You must have a backbone and stand for what you believe when you pursue your dream. Saying your self-talk 500-1,000 times a day helps build your self-esteem in your pursuit of your successful business.
Once you have your seed of thought on what you plan to pursue in your business endeavors, water it with persistence. PROCRASTINATION gets you nowhere and you must have goals. Even if you fail, you must press on, if you want to run a successful business. You must have a solid foundation on how you want to run your business. You can’t rush through your business and expect to succeed. You have to build your foundation upon The Five Pillars for Your Success, which are:
1) Company Management Experience with Integrity
This step is achieved by building relationships.
2) Timing in the Company, Timing in the Industry
3) Remarkable Product (at Value Price)
4) Compensation Plan that Pays the Part-Time Person
5) Proven Duplicatable System
