Think and Grow Rich – Chapter 9 Persistence

This lesson is like a review of many of the previous lessons.  After reading the first sentence, my head was spinning!

“PERSISTENCE is an essential factor in the procedure of transmuting DESIRE into its monetary equivalent.  The basis of persistence is the POWER OF WILL.” I just wrote about persistence a couple of lessons ago.  I sat back without reading further and looked at all the capitalized words in the lesson.

PERSISTENCE, INTENSITY OF DESIRE, POWER OF WILL, DEFINITE GOAL, DEFINITE ORGANIZED PLAN, MASTER MIND, POVERTY CONSCIOUSNESS, MONEY CONSCIOUSNESS, SUPREME EFFORT, SUCCESS, FAILURE, MOTIVES, DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE, SELF-RELIANCE, ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE, CO-OPERATION, HABIT, FEAR, DISCOURAGEMENT, INDIFFERENCE, GET, GIVING, CRITICISM, MIND CLOSED AGAINST ALL NEGATIVE,

As these words swirled through my mind, I recognized that we have been prepared masterfully in the previous chapters to be ready to persist!  Did we get all we needed from the previous chapters, did we apply it to our lives?  Have we mastered it?  I didn’t.  A seed was planted about each step with some application.

Now that I have focused on Hill’s procedure for many readings of the book over many years, it is beginning to sink in.  I am actually stepping into the process.  I  recognize that I have truly made a decision to succeed in my network marketing business.  I will.  However, as I look back on lessons 1-8, I can see areas where I am weak and I have to go back and work on them until this whole process becomes a well-oiled machine.  Fortunately, that will happen as we continually repeat the study of the book.

A few weeks back, I knew that persistence was my main immediate goal to master as I step toward my actual goal.  Looking over these words in capital letters triggerd the messages from the lessons for me that we have studied.  Pondering each one helps me recognize how things can fit into my very busy life by time frames and where I need to strengthen myself.  Having made the decision to persist fuels the coming success I know will come in my business.

Like many of us, I don’t know where to get the time to do the work and have shifted my time schedule, just today.  My mind is clear in the morning, so I’ve committed to go to bed by 10pm and work totally on my business from 4-8am.  Of course I will fit in some phone calls during the day, but my complete focus of these hours will be used for income producing activities.

I’m basically writing this lesson as a message to myself.  Yet it is such a comfort to have the guidance and support of Linda and Michael Dlouhy and this mastermind group helping me stay on track and I appreciate hearing your brilliant comments and lessons.  Thanks to all of you so very much!
