Even if you don’t yet fully believe that you can achieve that which you desire, by repeating your self-talk, you can induce self-belief. Hill says: “By following the instructions laid down in the chapter on autosuggestion, and those on the subconscious mind, summarized in that chapter, you may convince the subconscious mind that you believe you will receive that for which you ask, and it will act upon that belief, which your subconscious mind passes back to you in the form of faith, followed by definite plans for procuring that which you desire. He also states: “Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith”. It is when faith is allied with self-talk that your desires are translated into physical reality. Saying one’s self-talk without the inclusion of at least one of the powerful emotions of faith, love and sex, is to deprive it of very great potency. It is no wonder that some professionals have called self-talk or autosuggestion self-hypnosis.

Hill claims one can deceive the subconscious mind. He says: “To make this deceit more realistic, conduct yourself just as you would if you were already in possession of the material thing which you are demanding when you call upon your subconscious mind”. This is why under the heading, “ Six Steps that Turn Desires into Gold”, in the chapter on desire, he says that you should “see and feel and believe yourself already in  possession of the money” that you desire. This is also why you should visualize the end result while saying your self-talk.

The desires with which we infiltrate our minds in faith-filled positive self-talk will dominate our thoughts and actions, and will attract similar thoughts. Hill advises us to write out a clear statement of our definite life purpose and to repeat it in audible words, day after day, until these vibrations of sound reach our subconscious minds. This can be a two- step process. Firstly, there is the life purpose which is read morning and evening and then there can be a self-talk based upon it, which is repeated many times daily.

As self-confidence and faith are inextricably linked, Hill gives us a five-step guide to developing self-confidence. This is a formula which should be read aloud daily and the instructions contained in it followed carefully. The more self-confident you are, the more easily you can develop faith to attain your desires.
