Chapter 15 - How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear
Hill points out in this chapter that indecision, doubt and
fear are the enemies we have to watch out for. He states "They germinate
and grow without their presence being observed."
HIll also tells us "Man can create nothing which he does not
first conceive in the form of an impulse of thought."
The fears that we observe in ourselves were then actually created
by our own thoughts.
Hill goes on to share with us "Mind control is the result of
self-discipline and habit. You either control your mind or it
controls you. There is no half-way compromise. The most practical
of all methods for controlling the mind is the habit of keeping it busy
with a definite purpose, backed by a definite plan."
We created our fears so that would mean we can also get rid
of them by keeping our mind busy with a definite purpose and plan
which will overcome the fear and "send it packing."
This can only be done if we get rid of the alibis and excuses
and Hill points out that we have the "Master Key".
"It is the privilege of creating, in your own mind, a BURNING DESIRE
for a definite form of riches. There is no penalty for the use
of the Key, but there is a price you must pay if you do not
use it. The price is FAILURE."
Hill goes on to share with us that "Building alibis with which
to explain away failure is a national pastime. The habit is as
old as the human race, and is fatal to success! Why do people
cling to their pet alibis? The answer is obvious. They defend their
alibis because THEY CREATE them! A man’s alibi is the child
of his own imagination. It is human nature to defend one’s own brainchild.
Building alibis is a deeply rooted habit. Habits are difficult to
break, especially when they provide justification for something we do."
Fear, according to Hill, is an alibi and as Michael Dlouhy tells
us "Any excuse will do, just pick one."
"Indecision, doubt and fear" are enemies. Enemies do not help us.
Just as we need to get away from negative people, we need to get rid
of "indecision, doubt and fear" and live the life we were meant to live.
Will Thomas has stated "There's no fear when you're having fun."
