Chapter 3 - Faith
'There is a story of an old man observed planting a fig tree. When asked if he really expected to live long enough to consume the fruits of his labor, he replied: "I was born into a world flourishing with ready pleasures. My ancestors planted for me, and I now I plant for my children..." ' (chabad dot org) This old man had great faith that the tree will get enough rain, sunshine and good soil to produce fruit even after he was gone. His greatest faith, though, was that a future generation would live to benefit from his work.
Napoleon Hill and Michael Dlouhy also have planted seeds in publishing their books. The steps to grow rich and to improve lives are the fruit offered to their readers. Mr. Hill has passed on, and we are the beneficiaries of his plantings. For this mastermind group, Michael is leading others to teach Mr. Hill’s principles with the faith that members of this group will grow, and in turn teach another generation.
Faith doesn’t announce itself to the world. Faith shows itself in the simple acts of habit of our showing up and doing the daily work to grow ourselves and our business. Mr. Hill and Michael have done the work, and have given us examples of how faith works. Our mission is to follow in their footsteps to plant for the next generation.
