Think and Grow Rich
The Crystallization of Desire
It amazes me how sometimes people will put so much time, money and energy in working at something and yet it clearly isn't working for them. They persist at trying to do what they have always done, probably thinking to themselves, “others can do it this way-so this is the way I should do it too, so I'll keep doing what I'm doing, until I get it right.” Well, that day may never come.
I can give you numerous times, when that is what I thought. It is funny to me now when I remember how things were for me in other companies. Almost every MLM I've tried, one leader or another will give the definition of insanity. “Doing the same thing over and over again and getting the same results”. (I don't know it word for word, but I think you get the gist.) They want to convey the message that they do it better than all the other companies; what the other companies are doing doesn't work. The thing is the majority of MLMs do the same thing-telling you to duplicate what they are doing, because it's different and it works. They also give you a plan of ACTION so you can do it the way they are telling you to do it. Every MLM must have the same copy of a Plan of Action.
Well, how they tell you to do it, may work for some, but not for all.
Napoleon wrote “If the first plan which you adopt does not work successfully, replace it with a new plan, if this plan fails to work, replace it... until you find a plan which does work.”
Napoleon continues, “Just keep in mind and remember when your plans fail, that temporary defeat is not permanent failure. It may only mean that your plans have not been sound.”
I have been in the MLM industry for 10 years and it wasn't until just last summer that I realized that by thinking the way the companies wanted me to think and what to think, I was just spinning my wheels. I can not “recruit, recruit, recruit”, “make a list of 100 names”, and so forth. Each and every time I tried to-I got no where. I would get discouraged and start 'beating myself up' because I couldn't do it like 'it was suppose to be done'.
Maybe a month or so before I joined our Mentoring For Free Mastermind group, I friended a woman on Facebook who told me about 'Attraction Marketing'. It made sense, but dropping what I had been trying to do for so long, is still an on-going endeavor. I am now with a company which teaches its affiliates attraction marketing. No building lists or pounding people over their heads trying to convince them to “join the company” and if not join, buy some overpriced product that they probably wouldn't reorder even if they bought it the first time.
I was persistent in doing something that clearly wasn't working for me-I guess I must have been insane. But with the help of our MFF Mastermind group, words of wisdom from Nathan and the common sense I hear from Michael and the rest of the group, making the transition from insanity to 'what works' has been made much easier.
I'd also like to thank Nathan for his patience. He's a good listener.
