Chapter 3

Faith

While I was at a conference not too long ago, someone gave such a great quote on faith that I want to share it with you, "To believe it to be SO, when it's not SO, so it can be SO." Now this quote goes much more in depth than what it first seems. After you read the following chapter from Think and Grow Rich on faith, Hill states that faith is the head chemist of the mind. See, we must have a desire as our starting point towards riches, but faith is where the magic starts to work. I would like to share a short story with you, and then I will tie the quote above with the story.

As I was growing up and just living the life of going to school and baseball, I watched one of the best baseball movies of all time: Field of Dreams. If you have never seen it, even if you're not a baseball fan, I would highly recommend it. This movie was an instant classic, and still one of my favorite movies of all time. You are probably thinking that I am saying that just because I grew up as a baseball player. Now, that is part of the truth, but the real reason I love this movie is for the great line, "If you build it, he will come." To give you a little background of this movie, Ray (played by Kevin Costner) was a farmer from Iowa and has always loved baseball. His father was a baseball player, and he always wanted to have a catch with his father. One night, Ray heard a voice saying, "If you build it, he will come." Now, he had no idea who told him this, but Ray felt he needed to act. Therefore, he built a baseball field in his backyard. All Ray had was belief that he would be reconnected with his father once he built that field. But it did not happen right away. In fact, it took a very long time and some action for his father to appear at the end of the movie. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what faith is all about.

So back to the quote I mentioned earlier. Ray believed he would see his father by building that field. And even though it didn't happen right away, he kept believing it through auto-suggestion. Everyone kept telling him that he was crazy and that he should sell his house before the bank takes it away. But not Ray. He kept believing and believing, until the day came that he saw his father.

That is the same thing in our network marketing business. We must have the faith that we can do anything we set our mind and desire to. And we will keep going no matter what. Yeah, there are going to be plenty of times where we doubt ourselves, team members quit, etc. But if you don't quit, and keep fighting through, then at the end of the day (it might be 365 days later), you will win. And there is no better feeling than to accomplish what you set out to do, and see all the people that doubted you, want what you have. Therefore, I'll end my lesson with the quote again on faith, "To believe it to be SO, when it's not SO, so it can be SO."
