Chapter 2 Desire
THE STARTING POINT OF ALL ACHIEVEMENT
The First Step toward Riches
One of Hills quotes stands out to me in this chapter, "Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a BURNING DESIRE TO WIN, essential to success. This is one thing that I try to teach my young 12 year old baseball team. Some of them have conveyed the fact that they one day want to play in college and some even have dreams of getting to the majors. I only ask of them a couple of things when it comes to playing on my team. You have to have a BURNING DESIRE TO LEARN AND GET BETTER. And two, be WILLING TO SACRIFICE WHAT IT TAKES to make the team better. I put a strong emphasis on getting better individually outside of practice by working on things on their own. So when they come to practice as an entire unit, we will automatically become better and improve as a team. As long as we build upon that concept, I'm sure good results will show on the field.
Personally I have the BURNING DESIRE to help young student athletes achieve their goals and dreams they want out of sports because I feel that by achieving those dreams, it will give them the tools and skills needed to achieve any goal or dream they may have or want out of life. By first improving and getting better themselves, and then knowing to lean on their teammates or mastermind group to help stay on track. No matter how hard it may be and no matter what obstacles are in the way. How do I know we can achieve this, because we have talked about it and implemented it from day one. They bought into what I have been saying because they see self improvement and they see the team getting better as a whole. Not only that, they have a burning desire now to see the team succeed. I simply want to build better student athletes which in turn will build better people.
Anything that we want out of life must first come from a thought, then a burning desire or obsession must be created in order to achieve it. This is the state of mind needed to begin acquiring riches, along with a definite plan and a definite persistence to carry out those plans. Hill talks about the six definite steps needed to transmute our desires into its financial equivalent. The biggest part of that is not only believing, but already visualizing that you have what it is that you want. Having a vision board helps keep the desire burning because its a constant visual to help you stay focused on achieving everything that's on it. We have to develop our "money consciousness" in order to attract or obtain the possession of money. We have to convince ourselves we already have it. The old saying goes, if you can dream it, you can most certainly achieve it.
Mentoring for Free has helped many of us keep our burning desires to be successful in network marketing in tact because it will never allow our fire to burn out. As long as we stay close to the fire that Michael and Linda have built for us, it will always be there to fuel the fires we have built for ourselves, so that we can help fuel the fires of others who want to achieve the same things. Thanks for making me better so that I can make others better through my burning desire to do so.
