Think & Grow Rich Lessons

I’ve sat and listened, read, and studied this chapter a number of times this week and I just come up blank minded on what to share. It’s maybe the worst case of writer's block that I have ever had.

So I felt, in order to just get it started, I would just write. I pray that I might add value in the process.

It’s been a great last few days. One of the major goals I have in mind is to start feeding and training programs in the poorest places in the Philippines. The major cities already have the infrastructure in place, they have programs for the poor and needy, however, they cannot support the influx of people coming from the outer provinces. The answer to this is addressing the outer provinces, building that infrastructure up and that stops the influx of people turning to the big city for their needs, since it can be met where they are at. This week, I have met two separate people, both are willing to get involved in helping make this a reality.

Power, when successfully used in the pursuit of money must be mixed with FAITH. It must be mixed with DESIRE. It must be mixed with PERSISTENCE. It must be applied through a plan, and that plan must be set into ACTION.

So as I have been applying the six steps - reading the sixth step twice a day. I mix it in with my prayer time in the morning and evening. And I pay attention to what’s around me. I tend to tell my kids, be aware of your surroundings. Be constantly aware. It’s important, mainly as you never know where opportunity is going to come from.

Case in Point: I was driving from Dallas, TX (not Dallas, GA) up to Denton, TX. The car had recently been driving odd and I had my brother take a look at the tires right before this trip. He’s a mechanic. I, however, am not. I am the type to open the hood and go, yep… that’s an engine. Anyway, so I’m driving up to Denton and I pass a truck that’s hauling liquid nitrogen. And then ‘BOOM’ - one of the front tires explodes and the car starts to spin out of control. The only thing I could think of was avoiding that truck. I don’t know how solid those tanker trucks are, I am assuming pretty solid, however, I didn’t want to test it anytime soon. I focused on the spin and controlling the car away from the truck.

Power has that mix of being aware of what’s going on around you. Opportunities are absolutely everywhere. I’m realizing this more and more. The two people I am meeting with over the next week and people I met Sunday and Tuesday. And what’s interesting, is there are hundreds… HUNDREDS of people who have this same opportunity but 1) don’t realize it is there. 2) don’t have the desire 3) don’t have the faith 4) don’t recognize their own personal potential.

One thing that separates those who are labeled great and those who are not is truly one simple thing: those who are said to be “great” saw the opportunities before them and seized them with the best of their ability.

One thing I love about Masterminds: it is a mental cleanse. To flush out the toxins within your brain, the negative garbage, and you put in good stuff. I am totally blessed. Thanks.
