Chapter 2 Desire
THE STARTING POINT OF ALL ACHIEVEMENT
The First Step toward Riches
"A creative man is motivated by a desire to achieve not by a desire to beat others." Ayn Rand
"Your desire to change must be greater than your desire to stay the same." Unknown
Barnes' Desire was motivated by a desire to achieve, to become the business partner of Edison, At their first meeting Barnes placed Edison on notice that this was his intention and that he would do anything to achieve it.
My passionate desire a number of years ago was to obtain a higher degree. Everybody said it could not be accomplished since I did not have a first degree. I had studied for many years and believed that those studies were equivalent to a first degree.
Like the desire Henry Ford had for a single casting for an 8 cylinder engine block, nothing could dissuade him that it could not be achieved, likewise I did not believe that my passionate desire for a higher degree could not be achieved. In the end I not only achieved the higher degree, I did it in one year where normally it takes two years.
One of my present passionate desires is the purchase of the house I am now renting. I have followed the six steps set out in this chapter:
Step one: I have decided on the exact amount of money, to purchase, up grade, and pay all legal costs to for fill this desire.
Step two: I have clearly set down in writing what I will do in return for the money, in this case using the rental money to help people living on the street.
Step three: Establish a definite date when the money will be in my possession and the dates of initiating and completing the purchase of the house.
Step four: I am creating a definite plan for carrying out the passionate desire and taking the action required, this has already been in place for several months and has been worked consistently with faith and belief that it will succeed.
Step five: Clearly write down an full and concise statement of the amount of money, when it is required and what will be carried out in return for it, together with describing in detail the plan to be used to accumulate it.
Step six: This statement is read twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening.
Like Barnes, I have not achieve the passionate desire at this time and have change dates following Michael's advice on the Leader's Call on Monday, for tolerance and open mindedness, so I will continue to do the action plan. Hill did not achieve his desire immediately, in fact the opportunity came from an unlikely source which others rejected, whilst Barnes viewed it as the opportunity he was seeking and had waited for five years for.
Arising from the second quote has been my desire to change personally, this desire has been achieved in a number of ways with the help of the MFF system and as such I am changing how I do my business. I now build relationships with people through EBook down loads and all the other skills taught here.
I thank everybody who has helped me on this journey, particularly Michael and Linda for believing in me more than I believed in myself.
