CHAPTER 6 IMAGINATION
THE WORKSHOP OF THE MIND

Every human has four endowments - self-awareness, conscience,
independent will and creative imagination. These give us the
ultimate human freedom... The power to choose, to respond, to
change. Stephen Covey

Desire is only a thought, an impulse. It is abstract, and of no
value, until it has been transformed into its physical counterpart.
While the synthetic imagination is the one which will be used most
frequently, in the process of transforming the impulse of DESIRE
into money, you must keep in mind the fact, that you may face
circumstances and situations which demand use of the creative
imagination as well.

Ideas are the beginning points of all fortunes. Ideas are products
of the imagination.

For most of the first half of the 20th farmers used planters which
simply feed seeds down a tube into the soil. The results were uneven
placement of the seeds and lowering the yields. Then came the planters
with plates which made for better placements of the seeds. The problem
was that the plates had to be changed with the change of seeds being
planted. This was time consuming labor having to take each seed hopper
apart to change the plate.

In the 60’s a Mid-West corn farmer decide there had to be a better way.
Over time he developed the plate-less planter which only require a simple
adjustment for the type of seed being planted. He later sold his patient
to John Deere from which his family still receives royalties today. His
use of SYNTHETIC IMAGINATION created his acres of diamonds.

Georges de Mestral, a Swiss engineer who, in 1941 went for a walk in the
woods and wondered if the burrs that clung to his trousers — and dog —
could be turned into something useful. After nearly eight years of
research (apparently, it's not so easy to make a synthetic burr), he
successfully reproduced the natural attachment with two strips of fabric,
one with thousands of tiny hooks and another with thousands of tiny loops.
He named his invention Velcro and formally patented it in 1955. Though
his use CREATIVE IMAGINATION he changed how the world fasten many items
today and found his gold mine.

There is no standard price on ideas. The creator of ideas makes his own
price, and, if he is smart, gets it.

DESIRE is thought impulse! Thought impulses are forms of energy. When
you begin with the thought impulse, DESIRE, to accumulate money, you
are drafting into your service the same “stuff” that Nature used in
creating this earth, and every material form in the universe, including
the body and brain in which the thought impulses function.

Whatever the reason we come to Mentoring for Free, each week is placed
before us the opportunity to use either form of imagination. We hear a
way or an idea someone else mention in marketing or getting downloads
and we build upon it. Or, something is said that ignites a hunch or
inspiration leading us to new direction not in uses.

My heart felt thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy, Bob Shoaf, all the
mentors and fellow participants for the values you share each week. I
greatly appreciate it and count each of you as my good friends.
