Chapter 5: Specialized Knowledge

This is an interesting chapter. Someone can have knowledge about something and never even have studied it. Like for example autistic children know a lot about a subject even if they never learned it in school. My son Parker was diagnosed at the age of 2 with severe autism. He is now 17 and still won't speak. Will not wear clothing in the house and sure does some strange things. We always say you can't make this stuff up. But he has specailized knowledge that we haven't even begun to unlock. He has displayed knowledge to unpresedented heights. Even as far as being empathetic. Finding things hidden from him when he was not even home. Finding them minutes after coming home. Walking right to the spot they were. Strange but true and way too often to not believe this is real.

He knows where the route of every school he has gone to. Takes the bus route from home to school on google maps. He goes every where he has ever been and will stop at different fast food places we have gone and will come get me to show me. My sons specialized knoweldge is the ability to communicate with the use of many forms of technology. If you listen to the videos he plays he repeats words over and over. Then you get it. He is telling us something. He will also show me the urgent care he went to and recently he found his doctors office and when he don't feel good he shows those places. He has a communication device called Lamp on an IPad. He can find words and type words. We were told he was the most advanced student in the school on the communication device. He is so knowledgable with communication. The only thing that is hard to communicate is feelings and pain. Of course they feel pain but they don't understand it and to them it is normal.

Recently my son said I want happy I want sad. He wanted to say he was sad. We showed him how to change it. That is an incredible communication breakthrough. Most autistic frustration and behaviors come from the inibility to communicate feelings and pain. He has so much knowledge it is scary for us. He is smarter than we could ever be. But we all have a specialized knowledge inside us all and sometimes we don't find it till we are already out of school and worked a job we hated for 35 years. That don't matter. Someone that never went to school for lets say masonry can open your own business without a college degree and live your life to your full potential.

The knowledge we need is to live life never having to worry about money. The fastest easiest way to accumulate riches. Really listen and follow Hill's book and you will get them.

Thank you Bob Shoaf my mentor for never giving upnon me.
