Chapter 9 Persistence

Persistence is the power behind achieving our desires.  Hill tells us that will-power mixed with persistence and placed back of our desires insures the attainment of our objectives.  So how do we put persistence to work for us?

The first step is to have a desire we are committed to achieve no matter what.  If our desire is powerful we will be willing to be persistent in taking the actions necessary to succeed. As Hill says:  "Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat."

Persistence also helps us achieve clarity of mind.  If our minds are full of chatter, conflicting advice, insecurity, and anxiety about making good decisions, we will be too distracted and unfocused to enjoy much success.  There are a number of steps we can take to achieve this kind of mental clarity.

Step one is to design the right self talk to bring our desires to life.  We must then have the persistence to repeat it to ourselves at least 500-1000 times a day with emotion.  The emotion is critical because it adds power to the self talk.

What we are really doing is convincing our subconscious minds that we are on purpose and we are serious about achieving the results we say we want.  Emotion used persistently lets our subconscious minds know absolutely that we WILL have the kind of life we were meant to have.  We WILL fulfill our purpose.

Another way to achieve the clarity we need to manifest powerful goals is to work in an environment that supports us.  I recently decided to redesign my office to make it more conducive to success.  I moved everything to a quieter space where there are many fewer distractions.  I also now use an essential oil diffuser with a special oil blend designed to increase clarity of mind.

The diffuser sends out the oil in a fine mist that permeates the room and is a constant and persistent reminder to stay focused on the task at hand.  It's kind of like having a back up self-talk system.  I also use a  tool I found online that plays special music shown to increase focus and productivity.

Increased clarity of mind also comes from participating in this weekly self-development mastermind, writing lessons, speaking up and listening to the wisdom shared by others in the group.  And of course it also helps to read from some of the many self-development books available to us.  If we are persistent in  self-development efforts we greatly increase our chances of success.

Persistence is critical. Without it we join the many online marketers who flit from one shiny object to another, never staying long enough in one place to achieve their desires.  Don't let that be you.
