Chapter 15:  How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear

F-E-A-R has two meanings:

Forget Everything And Run, or

Face Everything And Rise.

            - Zig Ziglar

Hill states "BEFORE you can put any portion of [the philosophy taught in this book] into successful use, your mind must be prepared to receive it.

The preparation is not difficult. It begins with study, analysis, and understanding of three enemies which you shall have to clear out.  These are

INDECISION, DOUBT, and FEAR!  The Sixth Sense will never function while these three negatives, or any of them remain in your mind. The members

of this unholy trio are closely related; where one is found, the other two are close at hand."

"INDECISION is the seedling of FEAR!...Indecision crystalizes into DOUBT, the two blend and become FEAR."

Decisions, decisions, decisions...well I'll think about it tomorrow...or the next day...or the next...

"There are six basic fears, with some combination of which every human suffers at one time or another. Most people are fortunate if they do not suffer from
the entire six. Named in the order of their most common appearance, they are:— "

The fear of POVERTY
The fear of CRITICISM
The fear of ILL HEALTH
The fear of OLD AGE
The fear of DEATH

Let's take a look at these in reverse order:

The fear of DEATH - Not a problem.  As a follower of Jesus Christ,I have long since locked down where I will spend eternity.

The fear of OLD AGE - My opinion has always been that "it beats the alternative."

The fear of LOSS OF LOVE OF SOMEONE - Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.  For a while I felt that I would just not risk

it again.  But, have grown to understand that I can give love without having to have it returned.  Keyword:  FORGIVNESS

The fear of ILL HEALTH - Well, of course.  We all want to be able to enjoy lif to the fullest as well as not be aburden to our
loved ones.  I have taken, and am continuing to take steps to improve and maintain my health.

The fear of CRITICISM - Even though, I am a GREEN personallity, I, for the most part, don't care what others think.  I must
admit, though, that as I write this lesson, there is just a touch of concern.

The fear of POVERTY - Here it is.  The one that hit me right between the eyes.  Hill puts procrastination in this category.

I am aware that it is my biggest handicap.  As, an example:  I was planning to write this lesson Thursday morning.  It is now
Sarurday afternoon.  But, at least, it is not Wednesday morning.

Procrastnation is not rational.  It makes no sense, whatsoever.  We all have a feeling of accomplishment when we finish a
project.  I know that when this lesson is posted I will feel that way.

So why...  Why do we procrastinate.  For me (and remember it's not rational) I almost feel that if I put it off then the possibility
of success remains, but if I do it now and fail then the possibilty is gone.  Wow, that looks really irrational on paper.  But there it is.

Michael, this is where you say "STOP IT".

Life is a journey.  Thank God I found this MASTERMIND group to share my journey.  It is changing my life in untold ways.

I still procrastinate, but not as much.  The day is coming when that will be, not at all.  I know this, I see this, I BELIEVE.

Thak you Michael and Linda for creating MFF.  Thank you Bob Shoaf for introducing me to MFF.  And thank all of you in
this MASTERMIND group for sharing my journey and contributing to my growth.  I hape I have done the same for you.
