Chapter 4 Auto-Suggestion

The Third Step toward Riches

The first chapter of “Think and Grow Rich” introduced us to “Dreams” (sometimes called Hunches or Ideas) and how it is necessary it is to record them for future reference and action.

Barnes dream of becoming an associate of Edison was a dream or in Hill’s words a “wish”. However he constantly thought about it and it became his burning desire and all his positive human emotions were concentrated on transmuting the dream into his Ultimate Goal of being Edison’s Associate together with “Burning all His Bridges” behind him.

The overall method of Barnes achieving his goal would have been based on the 13 Principles of Think and Grow Rich, although not detailed as such, but when reviewed after reading the Book several times it can be seen that each Principle is present.

Chapter 2 introduced us to the fact that human emotions play an important role in the changing of Dreams into Passionate Desires as the second step. The procedure for accomplishing this is set out in six definite steps; the Sixth Step (Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. AS YOU READ—SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY) being of the utmost importance as we will see as we add the each additional principle.

Chapter 3 on “Faith” detailed how we can cultivate Faith by the use of “Auto-suggestion”. Hill states and I quote “There comes, now, a statement which will give a better understanding of the importance the principle of auto-suggestion assumes in the transmutation of desire into its physical, or monetary equivalent; namely: FAITH is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of autosuggestion”.

Thus “Auto-suggestion”, or as we like to call it “self Talk”, is a method by which we can begin to change the ways of our thinking. Our original thinking was based on what we encountered during our growing up days, namely “What to Think”. The great entrepreneurs and inventors did not use this philosophy but used one of “How to Think”. Thus came about the saying “Whatever man can Conceive he can Achieve”. Edison’s dream of the incandescent light Bulb is an excellent example.

Self Talk can be either positive or negative, either moving a person away from possible riches to a life of induced poverty. Positive Self Talk has the possibility of moving a person of mediocre achievement to position of riches in abundance. Self Talk is a means, when said with emotion, of conveying from man’s conscious thinking mind those things which we wish to attract into our life to man’s subconscious mind. Where these thoughts have been mixed with human emotions of desire, faith and sex, their vibration is increase many fold and permits the onward transmission from the subconscious mind to Infinite Intelligence. Prayer is an example of this.

Infinite Intelligence, or as I like to think God, answers these wishes (dreams) with plans and additional ideas or solutions which will move us closer to our ultimate goal of riches or other passionate desires.

Ken Kleem prepared an excellent training on “How to craft a powerful Self Talk”. Self Talk must be personal and emotionally charged otherwise, like prayers read from a book do not invoke a response from infinite Intelligence. Also Self Talk needs to be said many 100’s of times per day to ensure responses.

Thank you Linda and Michael Dlouhy for this group of Mentors, which through your dreams and Auto-suggestion have become “Mentoring For Free” and the Forum “Think and Grow Rich Lessons”.
