“There are millions of people who believe themselves “doomed” to poverty and failure because of some strange force over which they believe they have no control.” – Napoleon Hill
This statement had me thinking about a friend I had a conversation recently. This person believed that he was down on his luck because of a “dark cloud’ hovering over him that he could not get rid of. It didn’t matter what I said to him, he already resigned himself to be in a state of despair and there was nothing anyone can do for him. In other words, he believed that he was “doomed.”
If this friend of mine could deceive his subconscious mind through autosuggestion thereby believing or having, in my opinion, a warped faith that he was doomed, I could do the opposite.
“Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith.” – Napoleon Hill
If there is any person I know that exemplifies faith, that person is my wife. In my own way of taking responsibility and doing what’s right for my family, I realized that I made a big mistake. Just sharing our goals with my wife was not enough. I realized that I had to share my self-talk with my wife. I explained that my faith in what we have been doing can be supercharged if the two of us repeated our self-talk. (I just slapped my forehead.) What was I thinking?
“Faith gives power to thought” – Napoleon Hill
A family that prays together stays together. A family that thinks together grows together. Imagine that!
