Mr Barnes success story is amazing but really quite simple. He just followed the steps it took to get there and the steps are laid out in this chapter. It’s no mystery. Well maybe it is to the ones who just thought he was lucky. The ones who didn’t see the sacrifices he made to attain his dream. The ones who think that personal development is a waste of time. The one who didn’t see that it took him years of hard labor and persistence and the mindset to make it. The ones who never had a big enough WHY in their life to do the same. I see that’s why Michael is so adamant about a why because without it you are toast.
Why do so many of us never get that burning desire to get where we want to go? Is it because we just don’t have enough skin in the game? It is very inexpensive to get in most network marketing companies unlike so many franchises and other brick and mortar start ups with ver little risk. Maybe that’s why so many take it so lightly and look at it as a hobby and not a legitimate business that can give you total freedom. Maybe that’s why many will say i’ll try this and see if it works, if it doesn’t I haven’t lost much money.
Hill says that Mr Barnes probably didn’t have that burning desire when he first started and that it was most likely a wish at that point. But IT GREW…and it grew because it was all he thought about. Barnes involved all his senses, he saw (visualized ) heard himself asking Edison for that chance, he burned all bridges. Hill says that every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and cut all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a BURNING DESIRE TO WIN, essential to success.
Barnes persisted all through those five years when there wasn’t even a hint that he would be would get his chance while doing the menial work he was doing. Hill says that in Barnes mind he WAS the partner of Edison that whole time.
That’s really all there is to it and if we can just get that from our heads to our hearts we will be fortunate enough to hear others talk about how lucky we were :)
Thanks to Linda and Michael Dlouhy for all you do and believing in us and for all the friends in this mastermind giving me the nuggets I might have missed on my own.
