Chapter 12 – The Subconscious Mind

Imagine that there’s a 5-star Michelin restaurant in your neighborhood.  Reservations are booked solid for the next 6 months, yet you managed to get a spot for your spouse’s birthday dinner.  You both dress up in your finest, and show up 20 minutes before the reservation time.  While you’re waiting, you observe people approach the Maitre’D.  Some slip him a little something when checking in, and are led to a table with a view.  Others just check in without a tip, and are led to tables by the kitchen.  Sometimes it’s obvious that the Maitre’D knows the couple and leads them to the best table in house – a private nook with the best view of the city.

That 5-star Michelin restaurant is your endless potential given to you by the Infinite Intelligence.  Yours for the asking.  You can approach the Maitre’D empty handed and groan about how the bustling and distracting kitchen noise ruins your meal.  The door keeps hitting the back of your chair, and you wonder why this place has such a high rating.  Or you could be the one who doesn’t frequent the place often, so you need to tip the Maitre’D for a comfortable table.  Just enough to get by and you enjoy the experience when it’s convenient, happy just to get in.

The third option is to be that couple who are familiar with the Maitre’D.  You frequent the restaurant and have developed a relationship with the staff.  They address you by name.  They know your favorite table, and bring your favorite wine and appetizer as soon as you’re seated.  You’ve made it clear what you desire, and you get it.

Mr. Hill emphasizes that our desires must be written down to be made clear.  We need to read them daily so that our desires burn into our subconscious mind.  We’re standing outside of that 5-star restaurant every day.  Where will you be seated?
