Chapter 4: Auto-Suggestion
Hill tells us the subconscious mind never sleeps. It is running 24/7 and it is up to us to control the thoughts we allow it to repeat. Our conscious mind is constantly fielding negative and undesirable thoughts. Reminds me of the goalie in a hockey game. Hill teaches the way to combat the negative stuff the subconscious throws at us is with the power of self-talk. He calls it auto-suggestion. However, he states the only way this works is if we say the words with feeling and faith. Merely reciting does no good. The more times per day we use our self-talk the better we are able to overcome the bad stuff. In addition to the use of self-talk, we must use visualization along with it. And we must be specific and exact. We are to see ourselves having achieved the desired result.
I just started reading "The Power of I Am" by Joel Olsteen. It is pretty much a modern day version of Hill's auto-suggestion and visulation. In other words, speaking our existance.
